Only The Young, Microlip, Emma Horan and the legendary Louis Walsh enjoyed a rapturous welcome from the large crowds at the spectacular Portadown’s Got Talent event on Friday night!
The FREE event was organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council as part of the Shared Process and Community Engagement Project (SPACE) funded through the Special European Programmes Body (SEUPB) PEACE III Priority 2 Contributing to a Shared Society Theme 1 Creating Shared Public Services.
The festivities began earlier in the day with entertainment manager and long standing superstar X Factor judge Louis Walsh popping in to the Millennium Court to meet the 12 lucky finalists, giving them some supportive mentoring and pass on some essential tips ahead of their performances that evening.
The show got underway on the town centre plaza at 6pm with host Cool FM’s Gareth Stewart having a brief chat with Louis before the young starlets took to the stage hoping to impress the high profile celebrity judges – Boyzone’s Shane Lynch, actress and model Rachel Kennedy, Microlip’s Neil Guy and stage and screen actor/director Gerard McCabe.
The finalists all gave strong performances but it was Pamela Cassells School of Performance Junior Group who stole the show and were declared the overall winners.
The audience, performers and judges were then treated to some fantastic musical performances from local online singing sensation Emma Horan, the ever popular Microlip and teen sensations ‘Only The Young’.
